This afternoon we were really lucky as 4 friends of our school visited to share their experiences during World War 2, this is because our topic is World War 2 this term.
We had prepared lots of questions, ranging from favourite book and sweets to how it felt when the air raid siren sounded, and enjoyed finding out about people's lives during this time. It was even better than we expected because our visitors had very different experiences so we learned how different people were affected.
A huge thank you to everyone involved!

What do you know about sound?
The year 5/6 team has been teaching you about sound in your science lessons.
We would like to know what you have learnt about sound or can you research an interesting fact to share about sound?
Get posting!
Did you know that....?
Though the blue whale produces the loudest individual noise in the sea or on land, the loudest natural noise of all is made by lots of shrimps!
The noise of trillions of shrimps clicking their claws together all at once can produce a volume of 246 decibels! A jumbo jet taking off only produces 140 decibels! Some people have compared it to everyone in the world frying bacon at the same time.
WOW!

What has been the best thing we have done so far?
Hello everyone!
Great to see that people are looking at the blog. I was wondering, what have you enjoyed the most so far this year?
Francesca has mentioned the drumming. We have been listening to that in the loft while we plan your lessons. It is impressive but very noisy!
Would be great to hear what you are enjoying so we can hopefully do more of it!

First week back
Well that's the first week gone already, it flew by! It's great to see everyone settling into Year 5/6. We have had some fantastic summer homework in. I really enjoyed hearing that Brynly had started to learn Italian and that Mathilda had passed her dinghy sailing qualification. It is great to hear about all these positive experiences! I have not yet seen every piece of homework (its been a busy week) so there is lots more to look forward to.
Make sure you have a go at posting to the blog everyone!
